Short Description Lutetia is a large asteroid in the asteroid belt of an unusual spectral type. Lutetia has an irregular shape and is heavily cratered, with the largest impact crater reaching 45 km in diameter. The surface is geologically heterogeneous and is intersected by a system of grooves and scarps, which are thought to be fractures. It has a high average density, meaning that it is made of metal-rich rock. 21 Lutetia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Discovered by Hermann Mayer Salomon Goldschmidt Discovery date November 15, 1852 Type Asteroid Satellite of Sun Minor planet number 21 Orbit Prograde Rotation Direct Apoapsis 09 423 955 000 km Periapsis 09 304 600 000 km Semi-major axis 09 364 277 000 km Distance from Sun 01 2.435 au Eccentricity 0.164 Orbital period 3.80 years | 1387.902 days Orbital speed 02 18.96 km/s Mean anomaly 075.393° Inclination to the ecliptic 003.064° Longitude of the ascending node 080.917° Argument of periapsis 250.227° Diameter/Size 02 95.8 km Dimensions 121 × 101 × 75 km Mass 1018×1.70 kg Density 01 3.4 ± 0.3 g/cm3 Surface gravity 0.049 m/s2 Escape velocity 02 69 m/s Rotation period 0.3402 days | 8.1655 hours Axial tilt 96° North pole right ascension 051.8° North pole declination 010.8° Albedo Bond 0.073 Albedo geometric 0.19 Temperature mean 02 170 K | −103 °C Apparent magnitude 9.25 to 13.17 Absolute magnitude 7.29 - Comments
